S.D. EIBAR’s new high-performance facility, designed and managed by KREAN

The new High-Performance Centre at S.D. Eibar’s sports complex in Areitio, Mallabia (Bizkaia) has been inaugurated, designed to meet the demands of professional football and optimise the first team’s efficiency. This milestone marks the completion of the complex, for which KREAN was responsible for the design and construction management.

The building, with a floor area of 3,000 m² and three storeys high, is situated in the south-central part of the new sports complex, flanked by Pitch 1 and the new stands to the west. The design aims to integrate the building into its surroundings, with a stepped volume that adapts to the varying elevations of the site.

The new building, which houses the facilities for the first professional team, is functionally divided into several areas: a press room and communications area on the ground floor; a canteen, kitchen, sports offices, meeting rooms, a terrace and technical facilities on the lower ground floor; and, in the basement, changing rooms, a gym, a hydrotherapy area, a physiotherapy room, a relaxation area and storage rooms. It has direct access to the training pitches and an outdoor car park with 53 spaces.

The collaboration with KREAN has enabled a functional, sustainable design that is aligned with S.D. EIBAR’s vision for the future. The entire complex, which has been designed to reduce operating costs and energy dependence, incorporates aerothermal energy, photovoltaic power and passive architecture to minimise energy consumption. The irrigation system covers the 35,000 m² site by reusing rainwater, recycling internal drainage and utilising water from the Zubitegi stream. This sustainable approach is complemented by an LED lighting system that allows the light intensity to be adjusted to suit specific needs.

The Areitio sports complex is establishing itself as a strategic asset serving the club, its players and its supporters. A tangible project for the growth of S.D. EIBAR.
