KREAN has been collaborating for years with the Bilbao City Council in the urban redevelopment of the Zorroza point, an area of 31.61 hectares, which is one of the last areas of urban regeneration along the estuary.

During the first phase, a study of development alternatives was carried out, in which various options for the development of the area were analysed, supported by a process of citizen participation. In the second phase, a new urban planning process is underway to define the new urban planning that will allow this transformation to take place.

A mixed use model is planned, with a residential sub-zone situated in the immediate area of the current Zorroza district and a zone of economic activity located at the point, together with new amenities situated next to the residential area. The connection between the Punta Zorroza and the current area is reinforced and improved by taking the train underground and creating two accesses above it. At the same time, Punta Zorroza is connected to Zorrozaurre and Barakaldo by means of two bridges over the Ría and over the Cadagua that will allow pedestrian, cycle, road and tram mobility.

All this is complemented by the conservation of the most unique elements of its cultural heritage, preserving the memory of its industrial past.
