The overall objective of the project is to develop a master plan for the Sheger River in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The master plan creates a public waterfront along the river in the section known as IP 08. The planned waterfront extends for 6.4 km within the city on both banks. The Master Plan organises a new riverfront as a large public space that includes an extensive network of parks, riverside promenades, housing, markets, cultural institutions, recreational facilities and commercial developments for the city.

The Master Plan's design follows a holistic methodological framework and focuses and limits itself to the development of the riverfront, while also considering the proposed solutions in a manner consistent with improving the sewerage network, enhancing the river's food transport capacity, reducing flood risks, and developing a study of the project's social impact.
