THE PROJECT
Project competition in Amara-Easo. 5th prize
LOCATION
Donostia-San Sebastián

KREAN's LOTZENARI proposal has won 5th prize in the project competition with jury intervention for the drafting of the Modification of the PGOU (General Urban Development Plan) in the Amara-Easo railway yard area in Donostia-San Sebastián, Gipuzkoa.

The LOTZENARI proposal was created with the aim of generating a new urban fabric on the space currently occupied by the railway tracks, connecting it with the surrounding urban structure and creating a new central hub for the neighbourhood with sustainable and energy-efficient housing.

The proposed urban design seeks to optimise mobility, accessibility and connections between neighbourhoods, as well as promoting a dynamic environment that attracts new uses and activities.

All of this is based on an inclusive and sustainable vision, in which respect for the urban landscape and the environment are fundamental pillars. Through balanced and sustainable development strategies, the project seeks to reinforce the neighbourhood's identity and consolidate its evolution towards a more accessible, resilient and vibrant city model.

OBJECTIVES AND CRITERIA

1. Urban integration. Connect with the existing fabric through compact planning, freeing up land for public space and preserving trees and urban heritage.

2. Road reorganisation. Restructure the Errondo promenade and its connections with Easo and Morlans, prioritising sustainable mobility, pedestrian and cyclist continuity, and access to public transport.

3. Creation of centrality. Consolidate a landmark public space as the heart of the neighbourhood, expanding green areas and ensuring comfort, inclusion and environmental sustainability.

4. Revitalisation of Easo Square. Revitalise the square with new facilities and accessible design, improving its spatial quality, energy efficiency and urban integration.

5. Integration of Morlans. Bring Morlans closer to the centre through new connections, promoting active mobility, landscape cohesion and enhancing the built environment.
