Work has begun on the Centre for the Management, Repair and Reuse of Bulky Items in Araba. KREAN and ZIKOTZ were awarded the contract promoted by the Provincial Council of Álava for the design and execution of the works.
The building will cover an area of 3,283 m² and is located at Bilodabidea 5, in the Jundiz Industrial Estate, in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It is a precast concrete building with a layout organised between the ground floor and mezzanine.
The decorative cladding on the façade is used to create a playful effect, extending it down to the ground floor in the most prestigious areas and using it to frame significant windows, highlighting the duality of the building between industrial and administrative, between the centre's own workers and accessibility to the public.
It is a sustainable proposal, with electricity production and the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof. Similarly, the offices will be fitted with high-performance thermal enclosures for high comfort and low energy consumption.
The proposal humanises the industrial environment, improving the well-being of workers and encouraging interaction with the community, providing the option of carrying out activities linked to raising public awareness about recycling and the circular economy, which form the basis of the centre.
