MONDRAGON Hospitality is committed to Mallorca

MONDRAGON HOSPITALITY, the MONDRAGON Corporation's cluster of companies providing services to the hotel and social and healthcare sectors, held the first hotel suppliers' fair organised by the group in Palma de Mallorca on 28th September. The new MONDRAGON Hospitality office in Palma was also inaugurated, which will be the operations centre for the group's companies, serving as a showroom for exhibiting equipment, a technical office for projects and a space for organising events and talks.

During the day, meetings were held between each of the cooperatives and the project and purchasing departments of hotel chains. In addition, two round tables were organised. Our colleague Ana Belen de Isla moderated the round table dedicated to "Sustainability and Energy Efficiency in the Hotel sector" with the participation of Sandra Benbeniste, Destination Stewardship Director at IBEROSTAR, and Marco Ruiz, Purchasing Director at MAR Hotels. Both agreed on the need for collaboration throughout the value chain to achieve the carbon footprint reduction commitments of their respective chains. They also highlighted their sustainability projects, Change the wave, IBEROSTAR's initiative to protect the seabed and become an emission and waste neutral company by 2025, and MarChange, Mar Hotels' sustainable development programme.

The second round table was attended by the director of BARCELÓ in the Balearic Islands, Cristina de Andrés, and the property developer and investor Stephan Bauer. It was moderated by the Director of Business Banking at Laboral Kutxa, Iñaki Peña, who analysed the sector's commitment to improving quality and the associated investments. The event was brought to a close by the Vice-President of Mondragón, Iker Alberdi, who said that "we have come to Palma to be partners and allies of the hotel chains in their projects and new challenges".
