KREAN provided consultancy services for the preliminary design, the detailed design and the construction management for the refurbishment and extension of GENERALI’s headquarters, located in the centre of Madrid. The building is a 40,000 m² office block with 15 storeys, situated on Calle Orense, a prime location next to Paseo de la Castellana.

The project involves the comprehensive extension and refurbishment of a building constructed in the 1960s by architects Alas and Casariego, and entails bringing it up to the highest standards of energy efficiency and LEED environmental certification. To this end, a state-of-the-art glass façade, a new heat pump-based air conditioning system, an efficient lighting system and a large rooftop photovoltaic installation have been incorporated. The interior spaces have been completely redesigned with particular attention to natural light and detail, in line with the high standards set by the client and the building’s unique location.

In 2023, the first of the two buildings comprising the complex, located at 4 Orense Street, was completed. The project has continued during the 2024–26 period with the extension and comprehensive refurbishment of the adjacent building at 2 Orense Street. This latter building will form part of the EY Campus that the international consultancy is developing in AZCA and constitutes a unified complex with the former.
